PHARMACIST SUPPORT CASE OFFICER
Salary: £22,000 - £26,500 pa
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time

EXTENDED CLOSING DATE: 12PM FRIDAY 17th SEPTEMBER
 
THE ROLE
 
Pharmacist Support is looking for an experienced and organised Case Officer to oversee the assessment of applications for financial assistance from pharmacists and their families and pharmacy students in need. You will be responsible for making recommendations on financial assistance based on agreed policies and guidelines and ensuring that the rationale for the decision is fully understood by the applicant.
 
Based in Manchester, you will work closely with the Administration and Information Officer to ensure people contacting the charity are provided with effective advice and assistance and / or are referred appropriately to other organisations. The post holder will work with charity volunteers to provide (where required) home visits to grant recipients and will be responsible for producing detailed case reports and ensuring the case recording system is kept up to date. As part of a small team you will also assist in dealing with general enquiries from clients and external suppliers and attend events to promote the charity’s work.
 
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
 
The role requires substantial experience in a benevolence/social care/welfare rights related post, with good decision-making judgement and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess good planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to take responsibility for their own caseload. He/she will deal sensitively and with discretion with callers, taking actions to accommodate their needs where possible.
 
The post requires a highly organised individual, good at managing changing workloads, with a high concern for order and quality. The post holder will have the ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet be content to work alone and use initiative on day-to-day issues.
 
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS 
 
Substantial experience in a benevolence/social care/welfare rights related post. Essential
Extensive experience of working with people who are experiencing emotional and practical problems and who may be distressed. Essential
Experience of disseminating complex personal financial and other information. Essential
Knowledge of social and health services and other service providers able to provide support to beneficiaries. Essential
Well developed listening/counselling skills. Essential
Basic knowledge of the benefits and tax credits system. Essential
Current and clean driving licence and access to a vehicle. Essential
Experience of working with and supporting volunteers. Desirable
Commitment to equality and the positive value of diversity. Essential
Ability to work effectively within a team. Essential
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and undertake stays away from home. Essential
