The Immigration and Advisory Service (IAS) is a charity that provides immigration and asylum advice and representation. This service is free to people who are eligible for legal aid. IAS also offers a fee-paying service for people not entitled to legal aid. Having assessed the financial situation of the person, Payplan will approach creditors with a suggested repayment plan. This organisation provides a comprehensive information and advisory service for older people aged 60 and over. Practical information is offered about paying for residential or nursing home care, helping with enduring powers of attorney, arranging funerals and providing guidance on income tax and similar financial matters. Al-Anon provides support to anyone who is or has been affected by someone else’s drinking. There are over 800 Al-Anon Family Groups in the UK and Republic of Ireland and these groups hold regular meeetings where members share their experiences and give each other help and support.
